HSBC Private Banking has appointed Gavin Rankin as regional head of investment services & product solutions, EMEA.

Rankin is based in London. He is a chartered financial analyst and has a BSc in economics and politics from the University of Bristol.

He will be responsible for the investment business in EMEA, including the development of the private bank’s investment services and offering in the region, and managing teams providing investment strategy, investment counselling, discretionary portfolio management, trading and family governance services.

With over 25 years’ investment experience, Rankin’s previous employers included Citi Private Bank, UBC Wealth Management and Goldman Sachs.

More recently, Rankin was the head of management investment EMEA at Citi Private Bank, with responsibility for a team of product specialists and the distribution of discretionary and advisory portfolios, mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity and real estate across the region.
