As the new EMEA investment head, Marie will be responsible for strengthening Barclays’ position as a discretionary manager and an advisory services provider in the EMEA region. He will be based in Geneva.

Commenting on the appointment, Barclays Private Bank & Overseas Services head of investments Jean-Christophe Gerard said: “Jean-Damien’s appointment significantly advances our plans to strengthen our capabilities. He will play an important role in helping us originate tailored investment solutions that are relevant for our clients.”

The appointment of Marie is the latest among Barclays’ series of new hires in a bid to develop its investment capabilities in Private Bank & Overseas Services.

The company has also made several appointments in the wealth management division in the last few months.

In July, Barclays’ wealth management appointed Dirk Klee as its new CEO.

Last month, the company’s wealth management business made multiple senior hires for its Leeds business in the UK.

It appointed Richard Kirkham, David Firth, Catherine Makin, Richard Lindop, Andrea Charge and Alison Probert as senior executives.
