Previous to Watson’s appointment the labs were organised regionally.

According to the memo Watson will ‘devise and execute’ strategy across regions and client segments globally.

How this will fit in with the existing regional investment labs is unclear.

In addition to his new role, Watson will continue to head up the EMEA Investment Lab, a position he has held for more than ten years.

Watson will report to global head of investments Eduardo Martinez Campos in his new global role while reporting to Iain Armitage for the EMEA position.

The memo also outlined other changes in the structure of Citigroup’s investment lab.

Rajesh Adwalpalker has been appointed to head the Asia investment lab replacing Vish Venugopala who moves to head up the North American investment lab in New York.

Adwalpalker, Venugopala and head of the LatAm investment lab Lisandro Chanlatte will now report to Watson.
