Macquarie Investment Management, the investment management arm of Macquarie Group, has agreed to purchase ValueInvest Asset Management, a Luxembourg-based value-oriented investment strategist focusing on global and Japanese equities, for an undisclosed sum.
ValueInvest, established in 1998, managed around €4bn in assets at the end of December 2017.
The firm will now become a part of Macquarie’s multi-boutique equity structure. The structure is led by Macquarie Investment Management global head of equities John Leonard.
ValueInvest’s 17-member team will join ValueInvest as part of the deal, including CEO Jesper Alsing and CIO Jens Hansen who will retain their existing roles.
Commenting on the deal, Macquarie Investment Management global head Ben Bruck said: “ValueInvest will be an excellent complement to our existing high-conviction equity strategies, and we believe Macquarie’s multiboutique equity structure and global investment platform will provide a natural fit for the ValueInvest team.”
The transaction is expected to be wrapped up in the middle of this year, subject to regulatory approval.
