Concept: Texas-based software company Forcepoint has introduced an all-in-one cloud-native security platform called Forcepoint ONE that allows users to gain protected and regulated access to company information on the web, in the cloud, and in private apps, to simplify security for both traditional and remote workforces. It has the potential to assist enterprises in decreasing the number of security suppliers in their infrastructure, lowering the costs and burden of managing multiple solutions.
Nature of Disruption: The Forcepoint ONE platform directs traffic locally and employs on-device security features. It performs decryption, inspection, and blocking without affecting users. The platform allows security teams to manage a single set of policies for technologies like secure web gateway (SWG), cloud access security broker (CASB), and zero-trust network access (ZTNA) from a single console. It includes integrated advanced threat protection (ATP) and data loss prevention (DLP) to eliminate malware and protect sensitive data across enterprise applications and BYOD (bring your own device) devices, removing the need for fragmented products. Security teams can administer a single set of policies across all apps from a single cloud-based console, using one endpoint agent, with agentless support for unmanaged devices. Thus, organizations can obtain visibility, restrict access, and protect data on all devices from a single platform. The platform allows users to access only the apps they require, rather than the full network. It uses full-strength encryption in-app to protect managed and unmanaged apps. At upload, download, and even when data is at rest, the platform detects zero-day threats. It can prevent malware from infecting a device or browser by blocking data breaches in files, pictures, or text.
Outlook: As today’s users can work from anywhere, visit high-risk websites, and connect to unmanaged SaaS applications from unmanaged devices, streamlining security can be a challenging task. At the same time that CISOs (chief information security officers) demand a simple security system. When supporting hybrid work environments with 75 percent of workers working remotely and billions of unmanaged devices connecting to business resources, it’s undeniable that the old method of controlling 50+ point products is not viable. Forcepoint provides a single security policy that enforces rules and prevents unauthorized access to or sharing of information. By integrating critical security services, Forcepoint ONE intends to make it simple for clients and partners to deploy security service edge (SSE). With fewer vendors and lower prices, it can assist customers to decrease the administrative burden of traditional point product approaches and simplify security operations.
