VP Bank, a Liechtenstein-based private bank, has named Urs Monstein as its new COO and member of the group executive management.

Monstein will take up the new role on 1 June 2018, subject to the approval of the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority. Till then, CEO Alfred Moeckli and CFO Siegbert Nascher will manage the information technology and operations divisions on an interim basis.

Monstein currently serves as the global head it / chief information officer at Swiss private banking group Julius Baer, where he has been working for the past one decade.

He previously also served as the COO and a member of the board of management at Bank Ehinger & Armand von Ernst in Zurich, as well as had stints at UBS and Union Bank of Switzerland.

Commenting on Monstein’s appointment, VP Bank Group chairman of the board of directors Fredy Vogt said: “His comprehensive sector-specific know-how as well as his international experience will enable us to match the momentum of our markets, while simultaneously addressing the rising importance of IT-based processes and solutions in an even more carefully-targeted manner.”
