Swiss wealth manager UBS has named Ghassan Soufi as the new desk head for wealth management in Riyadh.
Soufi previously had a stint at Saudi banking group Samba, where he worked in the private banking unit. Overall, he has an experience of over 25 years in the financial services sector.
In the new role, Soufi will spearhead a group of senior advisors who work for important families and clients in Saudi Arabia.
He will also contribute to the company’s growth plans for UBS Global Wealth Management in the region.
Commenting on the appointment, UBS head of wealth management for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Ali Janoudi said: “He will help us drive growth and further his successful track record of building excellent client relationships in the Kingdom.”
UBS head of wealth management for Saudi Arabia Abdallah Najia added: “Ghassan will be crucial in identifying and hiring top talent locally and leading our on-shore client acquisition strategy.”

By GlobalDataLast month, UBS reshuffled it’s wealth and asset management leadership team. The changes will be effective from 1 October 2019.
The overhaul includes the appointment of former Credit Suisse executive Iqbal Khan as the new co-president of global wealth management.
UBS recently also hired Bank of England adviser Huw van Steenis as the chair of its new sustainable finance committee and head of investor relations as well as Christine Novakovic as the new CEO of its Europe unit.
