Tilney Bestinvest, a UK-based investment and financial planning firm, has expanded its financial planning team by hiring Roy Smith as new financial planning director.
Based in the firm’s Glasgow office, Smith will report to director of financial planning Stephen Parker.
In his new role, Roy will provide expert advice as part of the firm’s ‘two expert’ approach which sees financial planners paired together with the firm’s investment managers to provide integrated wealth management service to clients.
Prior to joining Tilney, Smith worked as a wealth manager and chartered financial planner at RBS Private Clients Group focusing primarily on private client advice. He also worked for RBS as a senior private banking manager.
Earlier to RBS, Smith has held roles at private banking firm Adam & Company and Clydesdale Bank Insurance Brokers.
Tilney Bestinvest managing director financial planning Richard Dawes said: ""With the radical shake-up to pensions, demand for sound financial planning advice has never been greater, and appointments like Roy’s ensure that we can provide the superior service our clients expect. We are delighted to welcome him to the team."
