Syz Group, a Swiss financial group, has launched a private markets investment unit that will tap investment opportunities in those areas of private markets that often get less exposure owing to small size or complexity.

Dubbed Syz Capital, the new unit will serve as the fourth business of the group. It will offer thematic funds and co-investment vehicles, advisory services and capital structuring solutions.

Syz Capital will operate on a partnership model, which will target private market specialists.

This will be supported by a network of private equity specialists, debt and real estate practitioners, and industry experts.

The new unit will have two core pillars. One of them is a multi-manager fund that will evaluate absolute and relative value opportunities leveraging a proprietary asset allocation model.

Another pillar will prioritise growth investment opportunities including buy-and-build strategies.

Syz CEO Eric Syz said: “Syz Capital is the latest evolutionary step for Syz Group. It demonstrates we are continually breaking the mould and innovating for our clients. With Syz Capital, we aim to democratise private equity investments.

“Our client base is mainly composed of entrepreneurs, who understand the real economic impact of investing in private companies; it means sharing a vision and benefitting from the growth generated by a successful business model.”

The new private markets business will be headed by Marc Syz and Olivier Maurice.

“SYZ Capital aims to offer unique access to select niche opportunities across private markets and direct investments. It strives to ensure alignment of all parties’ interests by being actively involved in every transaction,” Marc Syz noted.
