State Street has appointed Neil Macdonald to the newly created role of head of asset managers segment in Asia Pacific, effective 14 May 2021.
Macdonald will oversee the company’s engagement strategy for asset manager clients in Asia Pacific, including strategic direction, and solutions structuring.
He will also manage the overall growth of the segment.
Operating out of Hong Kong, Macdonald will report to State Street head of global asset managers segment and global clients division Donna Milrod as well as APAC CEO Mostapha Tahiri, regionally.
Commenting on the appointment, Tahiri said: “Asset managers are a key segment for our Asia Pacific business which continues to be a growth engine for State Street.
“We are excited to create this new role dedicated to supporting asset managers to achieve sustainable growth as they navigate the rapidly evolving and vibrant Asia Pacific marketplace and harness the power of innovation and transformation.

Macdonald joins State Street from KPMG, where he served as head of the Wealth and Asset Management Centre of Excellence.
Prior to his stint at KPMG, he worked at JP Morgan Asset Management as COO of global investments solutions and at BlackRock as the COO for institutional clients in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Last year, State Street expanded its Asia Pacific management team with the appointments of Tahiri and Joanne Chen.
Tahiri became the new head of Asia Pacific, replacing Ian Martin, while Chen was named the head of China.
Both Tahiri and Chen worked at BNP Paribas before joining State Street.
