Standard Bank has appointed Jonathan Peake as the new head of risk to develop and maintain a risk management framework for the group’s offshore operations across three jurisdictions in Jersey, the Isle of Man and Mauritius.
Peake fills the role vacated by CEO Mark Hucker. In his new role, Peake will focus on the high quality of Standard Bank’s risk management policies and standards are maintained and enhanced. He will work closely with the group’s risk team in South Africa, reports CPI Financial.
Most recently, Peake was head of risk management at Deutsche Bank International in the Channel Islands, where he gained experience of offshore banking operations. Prior to this, he was a senior manager at KPMG Forensic Services where he was recognised as an emerging leader.
Hucker said: "Having held the role of Chief Risk Officer myself I fully appreciate the importance of understanding and managing risk. We operate in a sector and indeed a world that is changing very rapidly and face a huge range of challenges."
