Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has established a new team in Amsterdam in an effort to support its development in the Netherlands and the Nordic region, covering Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

As part of the move, SGSS hired Roel van de Wiel as commercial director for the Netherlands and Nordics and Bastiaan Aalders as head of business development for the Netherlands and the Nordic region.

In his new role, van de Wiel will be responsible for enhancing and developing SGSS’ business in the region across all client segments.

Van de Wiel joined SGSS from State Street Sector Solutions, where he was responsible for business development in the Netherlands, the Nordics and Belgium.

Additionally, Aalders will be responsible for developing and implementing business and client solutions for the region. He also joined from State Street Global Services, where he worked as EMEA regional head of asset owner products.

Aalders and van de Wiel will report to Mathieu Maurier, global head of sales and relationship management at SGSS.

Maurier said: “These appointments are important milestones in SGSS’ development plans in Europe.

“They will allow SGSS to strengthen its coverage in the region, where the Societe Generale group is already present, by offering clients its whole range of services, in particular the externalisation of non-core activities linked to regulatory requirements.”
