Skagen, a Norway-based asset manager, has appointed Knut Gezelius as a new portfolio manager, with effect from 12 May 2014.

In his new role, Gezelius will work on the £5.6 billion Skagen Global fund, managed by Kristian Falnes.

Gezelius has joined Skagen from Goldman Sachs, where he served as executive director of the global equity team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM).

Previously, he has also worked as an analyst on the buy side and head for the selection of global listed companies at GSAM since 2010.

Prior to this, he served as a senior lead analyst at the Houston-based Entergy Corporation and as a senior consultant at Applied Value Group.

Meantime, Skagen has also hired Johan Swahn to expand the portfolio team in March this year to work alongside with Kristian Falnes, Søren Milo Christensen and Chris Tommy Simonsen on the Skagen Global fund.

Falnes said: "He brings valuable expertise to the team from a decade of wide-ranging, international experience across strategic planning, management consultancy and investment management."
