Santander UK has appointed Ben Covey as its new head of private banking, assuming his new position with immediate effect.
Reporting directly to head of wealth, Charlotte Platts, Covey will be responsible for the direction and growth of the Santander’s private banking offering.
Covey has nearly 20 years’ experience at the world’s major banks, including 13 years at Barclays, where he served as regional head of London and the South East.
He joined Santander in 2014 as divisional manager for the South West, and is a chartered wealth manager with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
“I am extremely excited by this new challenge and very much look forward to the opportunity to further develop Santander Private Banking,” Covey says.
Charlotte Platts adds: “I am delighted to appoint Ben as head of private banking.

Santander Private Banking
Santander UK launched its private banking offering in June 2016, targeting clients with investments and savings of over £500,000 and annual income of more than £250,000.
The bank made a statement of intent for the increased focus on its private banking proposition in January with the opening of a flagship lounge for its private and business customers in Piccadilly, London.
