La Française Group (LFG) has announced the appointment of Roland Rott as the new head of ESG & Sustainable Investment Research.

A former managing director of La Française Sustainable Investment Research, Rott will be responsible for defining and implementing the group’s ESG strategy alongside Laurent Jacquier-Laforge – global head of sustainable investing.

Rott will lead the Sustainable Investment Research and engagement activities with a team of five ESG analysts, whilst overseeing ESG data and methodologies.

He will also direct the group’s ESG change projects, product development and marketing, in collaboration with investment and distribution teams across the group.

Having joined LFG in 2016, Rott was promoted to managing director of the ESG research centre, now known as La Française Sustainable Investment Research, in 2018.

Under his leadership, La Française Sustainable Investment Research has blossomed into the group’s centre of expertise for sustainable investing across all asset classes: equities, fixed income, and real estate securities. LFG currently manages over €10bn ($12.1bn) in sustainable investments, all asset classes included.

Commenting on the evolution of his position, Rott said: “Moving forward, I will focus on our sustainable investment research and the sustainable investment strategy of La Française group-member entities.”

Rott continued: “Over the past couple of years, the La Française Sustainable Investment Research team has been instrumental in designing ESG investment solutions and has developed a suite of proprietary ESG and climate risk management tools, which we will continue to expand across all asset classes.”

According to Jacquier-Laforge, Roland’s appointment to head of ESG & Sustainable Investment Research for La Française Group “ensures consistency in the quality of research provided to our portfolio management teams”.

Jacquier-Laforge concluded: “Roland’s contribution will be instrumental for successfully transforming La Française Asset Management’s open-ended funds to a 100% sustainable product range by end of 2022.”
