RBS has appointed Bruce Fletcher as its new group chief risk officer, replacing David Stephen who will join Westpac.

The appointment of Fletcher is subject to regulatory approval. The succession date was not revealed by the bank.

“The bank has made good progress and has great potential and I look forward to building on this further in the future,” Fletcher noted.

Fletcher currently serves as the chief risk officer of the global retail banking and wealth management unit at HSBC. He previously also worked at Citigroup and Irving Trust Bank.

“I would also like to thank David for his substantial contribution to RBS and driving forward the cultural change that has taken place at this bank.”

The latest announcement comes shortly after the appointment of RBS CFO Ewen Stevenson as the group finance director at HSBC.
