Putnam Investments has appointed Jeffrey L Gould as head of Putnam Global Institutional Management, responsible for overseeing the firm’s institutional asset management business, which serves investors and clients in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Based in Boston, Gould will report directly to Putnam Investments President and CEO Robert L. Reynolds and will join the firm’s operating committee.

Gould, age 54, will be joining Putnam from Lazard Asset Management, where he has served as Managing Director, Head of U.S. Institutional Marketing, leading the firm’s institutional sales and marketing efforts, including working with institutional consultants.

Reynolds indicated that Gould will be joining Putnam at a time when interest has significantly increased in the firm’s various institutional investment strategies, including multi-asset absolute return, unconstrained fixed-income, and domestic and international equities. In total, Putnam and affiliates manage approximately $75 billion in institutional assets as of June 30, 2014.
Over the past year, the firm has further bolstered key talent and resources to best address client needs, including: providing breadth to the firm’s sales and consultant relations teams, bringing dedicated focus to serving the endowments and foundations market, and continuing to provide an array of investment strategies designed to help meet the unique and complex challenges facing institutional clients.

By GlobalDataPrior to joining Lazard Asset Management LLC, Gould was Managing Director and Global Head of Distribution for Citigroup Alternative Investments, where he was responsible for sales and distribution for institutional clients. Earlier, he served as president of Renaissance Institutional Management.
From 1988 to 2005, Gould held a series of senior positions with increasing responsibility within the institutional business at Putnam Investments, culminating with serving as Managing Director, Head of Institutional Distribution. In addition to developing distribution strategies for the business, Gould oversaw client service programs, product development and consultant relations.
Earlier in his career, Gould held institutional sales positions at Citicorp Investment Management and Value Line Asset Management.
