Partners Group, a private equity firm headquartered in Switzerland, has launched its first office in Canada.
The new office is located in the Canadian city of Toronto.
With the expansion, the total office count of the firm increases to 20.
The new location is Partners Group’s fourth office in North America.
The firm already has offices located in New York, which marked its entry into the North America market in 2000, Houston and Denver.
Together, these three locations have a staff headcount of over 250.
The firm said that North America accounted for 18% of its total client demand last year.
Around half of its investments were said to be made in the region.
The Toronto office will be led by Brad Ballard, who joins from BlackRock.
Ballard has an experience of 15 years in the industry.
In the new role, Ballard will be tasked with heading the firm’s client activities across Canada and developing its investment relationships.
Partners Group co-CEO David Layton said: “Our presence in Toronto will allow us to cater to increasing demand from a broad spectrum of Canadian institutions for private markets solutions.
“These today represent an important component in many investors’ portfolios, contributing substantially to the enhancement of their overall returns.”
