OppenheimerFunds, a US-based asset manager, has named Ahmad Deek as its new chief risk officer.
Based in New York, Deek will head the risk management function of the company and will be responsible to improve its corporate governance structure.
He will report to the firm’s chairman and CEO Art Steinmetz and will become a member of the company’s senior leadership team.
Deek most recently was the managing director and senior risk officer in the investment management unit at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for over 20 years.
He also worked in Goldman Sachs’ prime brokerage, equities, and fixed income securities units during his tenure of over 20 years at the firm.
“As our industry evolves, our ability to provide effective, client-centric risk management and reporting will continue to differentiate us in the marketplace. Ahmad’s broad experience managing complex risk management functions and strategy make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team and our firm,” Steinmetz noted.
