New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) has appointed Hugh Stevens as new head of its funds management business.

Stevens will assume his new role starting 5 February 2017 and will report to NZX CEO, Mark Peterson, and the Smartshares Board.

In his new role, Stevens will manage NZX’s Auckland based Smartshares exchange traded funds (ETF) business and its superannuation and KiwiSaver business, SuperLife.

Prior to NZX, Stevens served as COO of Implemented Solutions, a specialist investment management company based in New Zealand.

Prior to that, Stevens worked as the head of private equity and real estate fund services for BNP Paribas in Paris, France. Before that, he was head of BNP Paribas Securities Services New Zealand.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he worked for JP Morgan in London. Stevens’ appointment follows the stepping down of Aaron Jenkins earlier this year.
