Newedge, a multi-asset brokerage and clearing firm, has expanded its energy desk by appointing Eric Shi as new head of China commodities.
In his new role, Shi will be based in New York and will report to Robert Vujtech, global co-head of energy at Newedge.
Shi will head a team of market specialists in New York and Hong Kong, and be responsible for expanding Newedge’s commodities business in Asia, targeting specifically on energy.
Eric Shi has rejoined Newedge from BOC International, a Bank of China’s investment bank, where he served as global head of commodities for two years. Shi has previously worked for Newedge’s energy business in China for eight years.
Newedge is the joint venture formed between Societe Generale and Credit Agricole.
