Man GLG, the discretionary investment management unit of Man Group, has appointed Guillermo Osses as the new head of emerging market debt strategies.

Osses, who has an experience of 24 years in emerging markets fixed income investing, will be based in New York. He will report to Man GLG co-CEO Teun Johnston in the new role.

Osses most recently served at HSBC Asset Management, which he joined in 2011. At HSBC, he was responsible for leading the emerging markets fixed income capabilities that managed over $20bn.

His previous roles include emerging markets fixed income portfolio manager at PIMCO as well as emerging markets positions at Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank.

Johnston said: "It is with great pleasure that we welcome Guillermo to Man GLG. His extensive experience working with emerging markets will be a great asset for our team.

"He has worked for many years in investment management and a distinctive investment process, alongside a proven track record of investing and managing investment teams in the fixed income space.

"As head of emerging market debt strategies, Guillermo will be fundamental in broadening our capabilities and enhancing our client offering in the Latin American region."
