Advisory and fund administration firm Maitland has acquired Gowling WLG (Monaco), a legal advisory firm based in Monaco.
Financial terms of the deal were not revealed. The transaction is said to enable Maitland to offer international legal advice from its Monaco branch.
The acquired entity will be renamed as Maitland Advisory (Monaco) and will be led by Peter Walford, a solicitor who is said to have supported the migration of “a large network” of HNW clients and intermediaries based in Monaco and other regions to Maitland.
Walford will be supported by Cécile Schlub along with Maitland’s other Monaco-based employees.
Maitland MD of private clients Herman Troskie said: “The wealthy are rapidly becoming “global citizens” and require a truly international service, delivered seamlessly across borders. Maitland is one of the few that can offer a seamless multi-disciplinary service through a worldwide network.
“We are delighted to strengthen our network with this acquisition, which is an ideal bolt-on to our multi-family office offering.”
