Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has introduced the Global FinTech strategy, which will offer exposure to companies driving the technological and digital transformation in financial services.
The vehicle, part of the firm’s global trends offering, will hold around 50 stocks and incorporate a high conviction approach.
It will invest in a range of firms including established ones with a global reputation to future disruptors.
LOIM Global Trends portfolio manager Henk Grootveld will be in charge of the investment team for the new strategy.
Grootveld has thematic investment expertise of two decades.
Jeroen van Oerle and Christian Vondenbusch will be managers of the new strategy.
The trio previously worked at Dutch asset manager Robeco and joined LOIM earlier this year.
Grootveld noted: “In our view, COVID-19 has actually accelerated the digitalisation of financials services. The combination of an increased penetration of e-commerce, countries wanting to reduce the black economy and the hygiene factor are now driving us towards a cashless society even faster than before.
“At LOIM, we believe that the combination of structural growth and attractive valuation remains compelling. The global transition to a cashless society, greater financial inclusion through digital finance, the emergence of new financial services through lowered barriers to entry, the rise of technology ecosystems and cybersecurity are key features of financial services businesses we will aim to capture through this strategy.”
