Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has named Theodore Economou as new chief investment officer for its multi-asset business, effective 1 February 2015.

Based in Geneva, Economou will report to Jan Straatman, CIO of LOIM.

In his new role, Economou will be responsible for building on a similar approach that LOIM introduced for its employee pension fund in 2009 and developed for institutional clients.

Economou joined LOIM from CERN Pension Fund, where he served as CEO and CIO. Prior to this, Economou served as assistant treasurer of ITT Corporation in New York and as a consultant with Accenture’s Financial Services Group in Geneva and Zurich.

The multi-asset unit, which includes a fiduciary management division, had managed $5.2bn at the end of December 2014.

Straatman said: "Theodore’s depth of experience running pension funds and his outstanding knowledge of their investment needs in building portfolios will be extremely valuable to our clients."
