Khadija Ali has been named group director, sustainability, and responsible business by Lloyds Banking Group.
Ali will be in charge of overseeing the Lloyds Banking’s teams for environmental and social sustainability in her new position and Andrew Walton, the group’s chief sustainability officer, will receive Ali’s report.
With a wealth of expertise and a profound comprehension of the crucial role financial services play in creating a society that is both inclusive and sustainable, Ali is a well-known sustainability leader.
She joins from EY, where she oversaw the UK climate change and sustainability services practice and provided strategic advice to international financial institutions on sustainability-related projects, such as target-setting, planning for the climate transition, commercial strategy, ethical business practices, and disclosures.
She returns to the group after serving as the interim director of environmental sustainability from 2021 to 2022.
Moreover, in her capacity as group director of sustainability and responsible business, Ali will fortify and steer the group’s sustainability strategy’s implementation.

Following the recent member election, Walton and Ali will both be assigned to the newly elected Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) Steering Group on 1 July. They will collaborate with industry partners to carry out the NZBA’s global pledges to help expedite the transition to net zero by 2050, or sooner.
