VP Bank has appointed an insider Roger Barmettler as its new CFO and group executive management member.
Barmettler, who has been working as the head of group finance at the Liechtenstein-based since last January, will assume the new role on 1 March 2021.
Since June last year, he has been serving as the finance chief on an interim basis.
VP Bank CEO Paul Arni said: “With his appointment, the Group Executive Management of VP Bank Group is now complete and I am looking forward to driving forward the implementation of Strategy 2026 together with my colleagues.
“In his new role, Roger Barmettler will play a key role in shaping the further development of the VP Bank Group.”
His financial journey began at KPMG Fides Peat in Zurich and Philadelphia as an audit expert.

VP Bank chairman of the board of directors Thomas Meier said: “Roger Bamettler qualified for the position of CFO in an externally supported selection process and the board of directors has confirmed the election of Roger Barmettler.
“The board is convinced that, thanks to his experience in the financial industry and his previous work as CFO ad interim, he is the right person to be the CFO of VP Bank Group.”
VP Bank provides asset management and investment advisory services to private clients as well as financial intermediaries. It has a presence in Vaduz that serves as its base, along with Zurich, Luxembourg, Singapore, Hong Kong and Road Town (British Virgin Islands).
The bank made several leadership changes last year.
Last July, it appointed Patrick Bont – the banking division head of Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein – as its new group chief risk officer.
Earlier in 2020, VP Bank named Tobias Wehrli as the new head of its Intermediaries & Private Banking division, replacing Chris-toph Mauchle.
