In his new role Andrews will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s marketing strategy across Europe, Asia, Australia and South America.

Andrews joined Legg Mason from Aviva Investors, where he worked as interim global head of marketing and also as a consultant leading the reorganisation of the firm’s global business development function.

Prior to this, he worked with Credit Suisse Asset Management as global head of marketing, BlackRock as head of iShares marketing in Europe and as regional chief marketing officer and also with Cofunds and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Schiffman said: "Rick will be a valuable asset as we continue to grow our businesses globally. His deep experience across investment product categories and understanding of the unique needs of different international distribution channels will be invaluable to Legg Mason in our continued efforts to refine and implement our global marketing strategy."
