Kleinwort Hambros, the private banking and wealth management business of Societe Generale in the UK, Channel Islands and Gibraltar, has appointed Stuart Barnett as its chairman designate.

Barnett’s appointment is due to become effective from 6 November 2017.

He will, subject to regulatory approval, replace Warwick Newbury following his decision to retire from the SG Kleinworts Hambros Bank Board and take up a new position as chairman of the board of directors of Sandaire, the independent multi-family investment office.

Barnett joined SG Hambros Bank Limited (now named SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank)  as an independent non-executive director in August 2014.

In May 2017, he was appointed, subject to regulatory approval, deputy chairman of the bank.

Prior to joining Kleinwort Hambros, Barnett was a senior partner in the Deloitte Financial Services Practice.

In the short-term, and as part of the transition arrangement, he will work alongside Warwick Newbury, who will remain in his position as chairman of the board of directors of SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank until the completion of its full legal merger with Kleinwort Benson Bank on 6 November 2017.
