Swiss private bank Julius Baer has hired six relationship managers (RM), including four from Credit Suisse, to strengthen its Zurich branch.

The private bank hired Simon Wanzenried, who worked at Credit Suisse for 11 years, to spearhead a new team in Zurich.

Wanzenried’s most recent role at Credit Suisse was the market area head of private & wealth management clients in Zurich. He will assume the new role on 1 November 2019.

Julius Baer also hired Rafael Scotoni and Ernesto Gemma from Credit Suisse.

Scotoni was a senior RM for the Swiss private & wealth management clients unit at Credit Suisse. He also had a stint at UBS.

Gemma worked for 22 years at Credit Suisse.

Julius Baer also hired Ronald Dold and René Freiermuth for its new UHNWI team in Zurich this month. The pair most recently served as independent wealth managers.

Previously, Dold worked at UBS and HSBC, where he held senior private banking roles.

Freiermuth formerly served at Credit Suisse for 20 years, latterly as the head of client portfolio solutions for UHNW private and institutional clients for EMEA.

Moreover, this July, Julius Baer hired Chris Reinhardt for an existing team. Reinhardt formerly served as the senior RM at Credit Suisse, focusing on executives and entrepreneurs.

Julius Baer private banking head for Zurich, Eastern Switzerland & UHNWI Andreas Feller said: “All the new joiners bring with them deep experience and knowledge and position us well for our long-term growth ambition in Zurich and in the local UHNWI segment.”

Earlier this month, Julius Baer hired 10 former Credit Suisse bankers to expand its team in Portugal.
