Kooi was a portfolio manager at Lloyd George from 2001 to 2008, running the Asian Smaller Companies and Siam Recovery funds.

Both Mehta and Kooi will remain in Singapore and will be assisted by their team of analysts.

Following the acquisition, JO Hambro is planning to launch two Asia Pacific funds in September.

Few months ago, JO Hambro poached a global emerging markets team from Baring Asset Management in preparation for a fund launch later in the year.
