Janus Capital Group has reported third quarter net income of $40.9m, an increase of 25% compared with $32.6m in the year ago period.

Average assets under management during the third quarter 2014 were $176.5bn compared with $165.2bn during the year ago quarter.

At September 30, 2014, the group’s total assets under management were $174.4bn compared with $166.7bn at September 30, 2013.

The decrease in complex-wide assets during the third quarter 2014 reflects long-term net outflows of $2.1bn and net market depreciation of $1.2 billion, the company said in a statement.

Fundamental equity and mathematical equity long-term net outflows totaled $2.1bn and $0.3bn, respectively, while fixed income long-term net inflows totaled $0.3bn.
