Australia-based Industry Funds Management (IFM) has opened a new office in Berlin, Germany in adherence to its strategy to fortify its position among investors in Europe.
The opening of a new office in Berlin comes on the heels of IFM’s appointment of Uwe Frank, a former BP Europe executive chairman, as a senior adviser to its global infrastructure fund.
Brett Himbury, chief executive of IFM, said: "Our Berlin office is reflective of our commitment to the market, and being on the ground locally will help build our presence in the region and maintain strong, long-term relationships."
The company has stated that the new office will operate under the leadership of Lars Bespolka, who had been associated with the company since 2008. Prior to IFM, Lars Bespolka has served as an investment banker with Credit Suisse for energy and utilities sector; and was also head of the Swiss bank’s Asia Pacific power and project finance group.
Other than Berlin, the company also has an office in London, which was inaugurated in 2006.
