HSBC has named Alex Classen the new head of HSBC Private Bank Switzerland.
Classen will be based in Geneva and responsible for private banking in Switzerland and Luxembourg, a Swiss subsidiary, and will also oversee the wholesale banking and wealth management operations in Switzerland.
With a background in private banking, Classen has held a number of senior roles in Switzerland, UK and Asia, spanning over the past 25 years.
He joins HSBC from Bedrock, an investment management company, where he was appointed head of its Zurich office. Prior to this Classen was also CEO, head of international at Coutts & Co. However, Classen first started his career in 1985 at Pictet & Cie, based in Geneva.
