HSBC Global Asset Management has poached Sebastien Faucher from Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) to serve as its new head of passive fixed income in its investment team.
In the new role, Faucher will be based in London and will report to global CIO of fixed income, Xavier Baraton, and CIO for UK, Philip Glaze.
At LGIM, Faucher served as the head of index fixed income with responsibility for ongoing fund management activities across all index fund strategies.
He previously had stints at State Street Global Advisors and National Bank of Canada.
Faucher’s appointment comes ahead of HSBC’s plan to introduce passive fixed income product range.
“This significant hire forms part of a strategic initiative to further strengthen HSBC Global Asset Management’s proposition within passive investments. The initiative, in which Sebastien will play a key role, is in response to identified client demand. It reflects our commitment to satisfy it with the most relevant and effective range of products and solutions,” Baraton said.
