HSBC Private Bank has named Bernard Rennell as
chief executive of its North Asia business.

Rennell will be responsible for all private
banking activity across North Asia, including Hong Kong, China,
Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines.

Rennell, who was global head of private wealth
solutions prior to his appointment as North Asia head, joined HSBC
in July 2000 as head of HSBC Bermuda’s private wealth services.

HSBC Private Bank said he has extensive
experience in trust, tax and wealth structuring, corporate and
family governance, corporate finance and financial markets.

 

Barclays creates head of Greater China
role

Barclays Wealth has created a new role, head
of Greater China, and named Januar Tjandra as its inaugural
head.

Tjandra will be in charge of the Greater China
coverage teams in Hong Kong focused on serving high net worth (HNW)
and ultra HNW clients with wealth products and access to Barclays
Capital’s expertise.

Tjandra joins Barclays Wealth from Goldman
Sachs, where he spent 15 years in various roles, including co-head
of its Hong Kong office and head of its Taiwan
desk.  

Most recently, he was focused on
relationships with Taiwanese clients.
