Guernsey Finance has poached Rupert Pleasant from Guernsey-based financial institution Beauvoir Group to serve as its new CEO.

Pleasant’s role will be to boost the stability of the finance industry in Guernsey and support its further development.

He succeeds Pleasant Dominic Wheatley, who will step down in June this year.

At Beauvoir, which offers trust, pension, corporate and fund services, Pleasant served as the acting group managing director.

His three-decade long financial career includes stints at Lloyds Bank, Barclays Wealth, Credit Suisse, Investec and PraxisIFM.

In addition to Guernsey, he served Guernsey finance sector’s key markets Hong Kong and South Africa.

Guernsey Finance chairman Lyndon Trott said: “Rupert’s considerable international finance and marketing experience will be instrumental in continuing the contribution that the Guernsey Finance team make in promoting the island as a leading finance centre.

“This is a key time for Guernsey as we look to innovate and create fresh opportunities to promote the island and the finance industry across current and emerging markets.”

Guernsey Finance is the promotional agency for the island’s finance sector.

Guernsey International Business Association chair Tony Mancini said: “The finance sector remains the primary driver of growth in the economy of the island, so its promotion is fundamental to Guernsey’s prosperity.

“For this reason, the leadership of the promotional agency is so important.”
