
Goldman Sachs has appointed David Solomon as its sole president and COO, replacing Harvey Schwartz who will retire on 20 April 2018.
Harvey joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 and has been serving as the firm’s co-COO and president since January of last year. Before that, he spent four years as the firm’s CFO.
His other previous roles at the firm include global co-head of the securities division, global head of securities division sales, and co-head of the Americas Financing Group within investment banking.
Goldman Sachs chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein said: “Harvey’s work ethic, command of complexity, and client focus have defined his career at the firm. Harvey has been a mentor to many, and his influence has made an indelible impact on generations of professionals at Goldman Sachs. I want to thank Harvey for all he’s done for the firm.
