Goldman Sachs has appointed Ken Hitchner as the new chairman and CEO for its operations in Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan.

Hitchner replaces Mark Schwartz, who retired in 2016 following a 27-year spell at the bank.

Hitchner joined Goldman Sachs in 1991 and has held various roles at the bank since then covering healthcare, technology, media, telecoms and corporate finance. He was named as a partner in 2002.

Hitchner currently serves as the bank’s president of Asia Pacific ex-Japan, a responsibility that will now be shared by James Paradise and Todd Leland.

Paradise currently is co-head of the Asia Pacific securities division at Goldman Sachs, while Leland currently serves as co-head of the Financial Institutions Group.
