US-based alternative investment manager FS Investments is looking to expand its national footprint with the purchase of Chiron Investment Management for an undisclosed sum.
A multi-asset investment firm, Chiron uses a combination of quantitative analytics and fundamental research in its investment approach. It oversees nearly $1.8bn in assets and three funds, which will now be added to FS Investments’ portfolio.
Chiron was set up by CIO Ryan Caldwell and CEO Enrico Gaglioti in 2015. It is based in New York and Kansas City.
As part of the deal, Gaglioti will move to FS Investments and assume a senior leadership role.
Meanwhile, Caldwell will continue to run the Chiron funds, which will retain their existing investment approach.
“Going forward, best-in-class asset managers will need to provide solutions that combine differentiated traditional asset management and alternatives,” Caldwell noted.
