California-based RIA EP Wealth Advisors has announced the purchase of NewFocus Financial Group, the latest deal in the series of acquisitions made by the company.

The deal, whose financial details were not disclosed, adds more than $700m in assets to EP Wealth.

Based in Vancouver, NewFocus provides wealth management, financial planning and investment management services to wealthy individuals, business owners, trusts and families.

The acquired firm has an additional office in San Mateo, California.

The acquisition further bolsters EP Wealth Advisors’ footprint expanding its presence to the area of Greater Vancouver, Washington.

It will also strengthen its financial planning capabilities, and will enable it to provide investor education through the NewFocus founders’ popular podcast and radio show.

As agreed, the NewFocus team will join EP Wealth, while its co-founders Rob Black and Chad Burton will serve as radio host and partner, and regional director and partner, respectively.

EP Wealth president and CEO Patrick Goshtigian said: “NewFocus is regarded as a well-respected resource for clients and investors within its community.

“The team’s commitment to providing exceptional service and solutions for its clients aligns with our mission. We are excited to build on the reputation Chad, Rob and the NewFocus team have cultivated in their communities and extend EP Wealth’s reach to a new region.”

Burton said: “Our goal is to empower our clients and communities by arming them with the knowledge they need to be successful, an approach that the EP Wealth team shares.

“Our partnership aligns our core focus areas and will allow us to serve a broader group of investors.”

Over a period of time, EP Wealth has completed 14 transactions.

In November last year, the company acquired Harris Financial Advisors to expand its reach in its home market.
