Swiss private bank EFG International has appointed Christian Flemming as its new COO, replacing Mark Bagnall who will assume the role of the firm’s chief technology officer.
In the new role, Flemming will be responsible for further enhancing the bank’s operational efficiency and its overall servicing platform. He will report to the bank’s CEO Giorgio Pradelli and join the bank’s executive committee.
“We are pleased to announce Christian Flemming as a new Member of the Executive Committee and as Chief Operating Officer. With his extensive experience, we are confident that he will be a valuable addition to our management team and further improve our bank’s operative efficiency,” Pradelli said.
Flemming previously served as head of finance at Banco BTG Pactual and as COO of the investment banking unit at the firm. Prior to that, he served as COO at BSI until it was taken over by EFG. He previously also had stints at Patria Banco de Negocios and Stern Stewart & Co.
Bagnall had been working as the COO at EFG since January 2011. In the new role, he will lead the bank’s global IT functions and develop its IT systems and digital strategy.
He joined EFG in 2008, and prior to that worked at Merrill Lynch.

By GlobalDataIn addition, the bank also announced that its head of strategy, Peter Fischer, will step down. He has been in the role since January 2016.
Fischer, who joined EFG in June 2015, will now be responsible for post-integration optimisation and implementation of strategic projects aimed at improving EFG’s efficiency.
All the leadership changes are effective from 15 January 2018.
