Edmond de Rothschild, the Swiss private banking group, has appointed Ariane de Rothschild, the chairman’s wife, as the bank’s CEO.
Ariane de Rothschild has been working alongside her husband, Benjamin de Rothschild, as vice-chairman of the group holding company’s board of directors.
A spokesperson from the bank told PBI that the decision comes as a ‘natural change’ to re-position the group as a ‘family entity’ in the market.
In her new role, Ariane de Rothschild will take over from Christophe de Backer, who will step down at the end of January.
As requested by Ariane de Rothschild, a Strategic Committee, drawn from the Board of Directors, has been created to
support her, the banks also announced.
The group’s chairman, Benjamin de Rothschild, said: "I would like to thank Christophe de Backer for his contribution to the transformation of the Edmond de Rothschild Group over the last three years, which involved taking difficult decisions, while allowing the group to maintain strong results.
