Asset manager DWS has named Clarence Ng as the new COO for its China unit and CFO for its alternatives Asia Pacific (APAC) business. Both the roles are newly created ones.

Based in Shanghai, Ng will now oversee the implementation of the APAC alternatives unit’s financial and governance aspects.

At the same time, he will also manage the operational areas of DWS Shanghai and report to APAC alternatives COO Leon Williams.

Ng joined Deutsche Bank in 2010 and most recently served as the global markets finance director at Deutsche Bank (China), with responsibility for legal entity financials.

In his 16-year financial services career, he also served as the head of finance at Bangkok Bank (China) and audit manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers Beijing.

DWS head of alternatives for APAC Victoria Sharpe said: “Serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the skills and experience that Clarence brings to the platform will play a critical role in shaping the strategy and future growth of our Alternatives business in APAC.”
