Private banks in Asia and Europe have made several key
investment strategy hires over the past month, indicating the
battle for talent, particularly in Asia, is on the rise following
the lulls of recent years.
Two of the significant investment strategy
recruits are for newly created roles.
Arnaud de Servigny
Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management (PWM)
named Arnaud de Servigny as head of investment strategy and
implementation. In this newly created role, de Servigny will
oversee research, strategy and portfolio construction, and
consulting.
De Servigny joined from Barclays Wealth where
he was global head of research and strategy and created the
investment philosophy framework for individual portfolio risk
management. He will be based in London and will report to Kevin
Lecocq, head of global investor solutions.

Norman Villamin
Norman Villamin is another investment
specialist who has been recruited for a new strategy position. From
the beginning of June, he heads RBS Coutts’ investment strategy in
Asia. Based in Singapore, Villamin will play a leading Asian role
in developing investment policy, generating investment ideas and be
involved in the formulation of investment strategy on the bank’s
global investment strategy committee. He joined RBS Coutts from
Citi Private Bank in Singapore.
Villamin’s appointment is the latest in a
series of senior hires to be centred in Asia. RBS Coutts’ global
co-chief investment officer, Nick Cringle, also recently relocated
from London to Hong Kong.
In September JP Morgan’s Andrew Cohen is to
take over as chief executive of its Asia-Pacific ultra high net
worth business. He is to shift from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.
