DBS Bank has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to train its technology professionals in cloud engineering skills.
Under the programme, AWS technical experts will work with the bank’s staff on technology innovation projects covering various areas such as security, artificial intelligence and data analytics.
The bank’s employees will also gain access to specialised and professional courses in the AWS technical learning curriculum, talks on new innovations by AWS subject matter experts, as well as hands-on skills enablement workshops in AWS training labs.
In addition, the bank will also collaborate with AWS on innovative IT talent hiring programmes.
DBS chief information officer and head of technology and operations David Gledhill said: “We are creating a workforce with robust in-house technology capabilities and deep engineering skills to rapidly innovate, build, and deliver new products. This further drives the bank forward in our digital transformation journey and reinforces our position as a leader in digital banking.”
DBS, which plans to move up to 50% of its compute workload to the cloud by 2018, said that the partnership with AWS aligns with the Singapore government’s Smart Nation Agenda.
