Danish lender Danske Bank has appointed Henrik Gade Jepsen the head of asset management in its wealth management unit, effective 1 August 2016.

He is currently the head of securities at Denmark’s largest pension plan ATP. In his new role, Jepsen will be responsible for managing nearly DKK690bn of clients’ funds together with over 350 employees spread across Nordic countries and Germany.

Danske Bank head of wealth management and executive board member Tonny Thierry Andersen said: "Asset management is one of the cornerstones of our new Wealth Management initiative, and I am therefore pleased that we succeeded in attracting such an experienced and capable manager as Henrik.

"Henrik will be in charge of developing innovative new solutions in asset management with the rest of his team while also ensuring that customers receive a competitive return."

Danske Bank, last autumn, took a decision to create a new unit that encompasses expertise in private banking, pensions, and wealth and asset management, with effect on 1 April 2016.

"With the appointment of Henrik Gade Jepsen, the senior management team at wealth management is now in place," the lender said in a statement.

Commenting on his appointment, Jepsen said: "Customers’ needs for innovative investment solutions and tailor-made advisory services are increasing. I therefore look forward to beginning my new job and helping to strengthen Danske Bank’s position in asset management for the benefit of the Bank’s personal and institutional customers."
