Swiss private banking giant Credit Suisse has named Pedro Jorge Villarreal as new CEO of Mexico, replacing Hector Grisi.
Villarreal, a 15-year veteran of Credit Suisse, will continue to hold his current role as the co-head of the investment banking department for Latin America, excluding Brazil, the bank said in its press release.
Villarreal previously headed the investment banking department in Mexico for five years and helped build a Latin America franchise that holds a consistent top ranking in the league tables.
Credit Suisse said that its Mexico franchise has grown significantly into a fully integrated investment bank, private bank and asset management business since the past half-century.
Credit Suisse Americas region CEO Robert Shafir said: "I am thrilled that Pedro Jorge Villarreal, an established and recognized leader in our Latin America franchise, will be taking on this leadership role as country CEO for Mexico.
"Mexico’s growing economy brings with it a need for increased financial intermediation, wealth creation and deeper capital markets – and Credit Suisse is uniquely positioned to meet these needs."
