American law firm Cooley has expanded presence in China by opening its second office in Beijing.
Cooley forayed into China in 2011 with the launch of an office in Shanghai. The firm has been offering advice on fund formations to more than 50 fund managers with primary operations in China.
The Beijing office, the firm’s 13th office across the globe, will initially have a headcount of three. This includes Ropes & Gray counsel Xun Zeng who will join as resident partner.
Zeng has an experience of over a decade in advising fund sponsors, institutional investors and other corporate clients in New York, Hong Kong as well as Beijing.
The office will also house two Cooley associates, who have shifted to Beijing from Cooley’s Shanghai office.
Zeng will also be supported by the firm’s China-based partners- Pang Lee, Patrick Loofbourrow, James Lu and Christina Zhang. The four will split their time between the Beijing and Shanghai offices.
