British wealth manager Brooks Macdonald has appointed Ben Thorpe as its new group finance director.

Thorpe will assume his new role on 20 August 2018, subject to regulatory approvals.

He most recently worked as the head of finance at Brewin Dolphin, with responsibility for managing group financial planning and analysis, financial control and tax and treasury operations.

At the same time, he managed a programme to restructure the group’s finance function at Brewin Dolphin.

Thorpe’s 18-year financial services career also includes stints at Standard Bank, Barclays Capital, RBS and Morgan Stanley.

“He is an important addition to our leadership team and will play a major role in positioning the business for further growth and in the delivery of improved operating margins over the medium term.”
